First fire of the season. He is my son after all.
We moved into our house just over a year ago, and are loving it. As I was gathering the photos and looking back, I realize I still don't have good before/after photos to share... so I'll have to get those. Sure looks a lot different these days!
Learning the spoon. Dinner is now a team sport: he holds the fork or spoon, tries to get it into his mouth, and then I handle the cleanup.
The tree went up and looked great, but the cardboard box was the real hit of the season. I'd like to say we're surprised, but we're not.
Snow on snow on snow.
Got the kite out on the frozen lake right outside our front door. Wide-open ice and a decent breeze is hard to beat!
We took the family out to Colorado for some skiing - sadly baby Ivor wasn't quite ready for skis. At least the parents got to shred.
Sunshine and lake life.
Somewhere in here the boy figured out walking, and shortly after, everything within reach became fair game. He also quickly learned walking is slow, so now he SPRINTS everywhere. and let me tell you he's damn fast already. Pictured: him supervising the backyard from behind the screen door. Why not smear his nose down the glass?
First time out on the boat this year, and 5 LOVES it. Usually wants to drive though.
Lake days for days.
Lake days are officially back. The water was clear enough to see his feet, which he spent most of the time kicking. He loves the water and would regularly soak his normal clothes, which resulted in carrying a naked baby home.
Took a family vacation back out to Colorado for some summer mountain adventures. 5 loves the hiking backpack, which was a blast. He gets the better view, I get the workout. Fair trade.
While in Aspen, got a quick break from dad duty for a ride in the mountains. I then realized how hard it was to just go downhill and stay in control. Yes, I fell several times and yes, the armor was worth it.
Turns out he loves a fanny pack, and rocks a Green Day shirt like a boss.
He loves to run around the house with a plastic knife with a crazy look in his eye.
Park day, pretty much every day. I'm honestly not sure which of us enjoyed the swings more.
It's no golf simulator build in the backyard, but the house projects never stop. Got to cut some trees down, install gutters, replace a sliding door with windows, chop some firewood, and plenty more. Super exciting adult stuff.
Back to fall, with a lot more walking than last time.
Farmers market trip. He was far more interested in the fruit and running around like a wild man than in anything we was actually there to buy.
Made it to Galaxy’s Edge and saw the Millennium Falcon lit up at night. It’s hard not to feel like a kid again, even if I was at Disneyland on a work trip.
Back around to fall, and this time he's walking through the leaves instead of being carried. Yellow rain boots, full commitment to the acorn hat.
We had a fall for the record book, and continue to try to enjoy it!
